Muslim americans

Many Muslim people traveled to the United States to have a better opportunity. Muslim are multiplying in numbers every year. They started from a small amount to a large amount of people.

Thousands of Muslims immigrated from 1880-1914 to the United states. In the past Muslims population was very small and today there are 96,000 Muslims populating the United States today. Muslims make up 24% of United States population.

In conclusion Muslim people are already large in size. Muslim people are as equal as anyone else in the United States. Muslim should have equal rights like everyone else

Problems:

When African slaves arrived in the United States in the 1800's, about 500,000 Africans arrived. 30% of those Africans were Muslims half were men and the other half women and children. In the eyes of white people, black people were seen as inferior and had beast like behavior. Over 50% of of those slaves that were brought from Africa were Islamic.

Discrimination:

Many Muslim have been criticized becuase of their religious beliefs. Muslims sometimes hated the fact of selling pork and sometimes would deny people the purchase of pork in stores. The main reason for Muslims to be discriminated for is the 9/11 attack. After 9/11 americans hated any one who was Muslim or seemed Muslim. They even discriminated Middle eastern and south Asian descendents. Anti-Muslim acts increased drastically this would result in destruction of property, racism, assualt, and even death.

Rights change

Muslim are still today fighting to end the anger and hatred americans have towards them when 9/11 happened. Muslim people are all seen as a "threat" in airports becuase of what happened. Muslims cannot work in any position in airports. They cant apply to even pilot a plane. Muslims are all trying to show or redeem themselves for what happened. When a muslim is going to travel in a plane security in airports do "random searches". In december 29,2011 i went on a vacation to New York and when i came time to go back to Puerto Rico i was stopped by security. I was stopped bye security for a randome ''security search" the main reason i can think of that caused this was that i couldn't shave for about a week. When i was stopped i was kinda surprised becuase i never espected that i would be stopped so i kinda know what Muslim go threw in airports but i know that they have it tougher.

Change:

All Muslim should not be discriminated for what happened in 9/11. Muslim should have equal rights and should be able to work in airports. Muslim people should be all forgiven for what happened in 9/11.

Muslim people had been discriminated for the incidents of 9/11, they had been denied working in airports. Many Muslim people are hated because of what happened. I propose that Muslim people should not be discriminated for any particular reason included the what happened in 9/11. Muslim people should have the right to work in airports.

Muslim people should not ever be discriminated or hated. They should all have equal rights and jobs like anyone else. Muslim people are all human beings and everyone makes mistakes in their lives and what happened in the past stay in the past.

Reflection

Randy: I liked that randy used pictures will he wrote his essay. He used many examples saying that the Indians were abused and forced to assimilate. His last paragraph he wrote about his feelings towards how the Indians were treated and abused by the whites.

Nestor: On his second paragraph he reflected on how he tought was unfair that whites took land from native ameicans. He mainly put facts on all the paragraphs he wrote and personal opinions in what he wrote. He really put his thoughts and effort in his essay.

Francisco: What I liked aout Francisco's blog was that he included important facts. He also included specific dates in his essay. He included important facts about movies that made seem that Native americans were the bad ones.

Tiffany: Tiffany's thesis was very good becuase she started talking about the earlier conflicts between Native americans and Americans. She wrote that whites wanted to help the Native americans but in reality they took their lands for their own needs. I liked that it included important dates and pictures.

Christian: His essay introduced that native americans were mistreated. He discribed the Native american's way of life. He explained that the US should do something to help the native americans today.

What really happened!

The Indian's land was literally taken form them by the american and most of the Indians were forced out of their homes. Indians leaft their homes by force or by diseases and scarcity of food. Indians who leaft their homes moved into reservation camps. Indians were forced to assimilate and become more like the white men, they had to change their names, religion, and go to american school.

A lot of Indians were either forced into reservation camps or went because they had no food or were dying because of diseases and needed medication. In the reservation camps Indians were given rations, heal care , and somewhere to sleep. Sometimes cows were released in a closed enviorment and Indians were able to ''hunt' them. The last chief to arrive at the reservation camps was Sitting bull.

In the Indian reservation camps, not everything was going well. Indian medication was called the " brown bottle" which contained fish oil and a little bit of alcohol. In the wounded knee massacre indians gave up their weapons and later were shot at by white men. The estimated number of dead indians topped at 300 including women and children, 51 where wounded. Only 25 troops were kiled and 39 were wounded.

Today there are not much Indians leaft, although there are Indians living in the reservation they are practically extincted. Indians are supported by the goverment and are still given supplies. Most reservations are miles away from the closest city. Not many Indians are living in the reservations today and they are not really getting any help.

In conclusion the Indians had to go threw a lot of abuse and went to harsh times. Although Indian's land were taken Indians were paid back millions of dollar by white men. In the wounded knee massacre many unarmed indians where killed by fully armed white men. Today Indian's are almost considered to be extincted.

My family history

My dad's family is originally from Spain. The Pomales  family is very large in numbers, my family live mostly in Guayama. Some left to the United States for a better opportunity. My mom's family I do not really know where they originaly live but more than half of my mom's family lives in the United States. My grandmother and my grandfather use to live in the United States and they later moved to Puerto Rico. My mom is actually was born in the United States. Both my mom's and dad's families  are immigrants form different countries but I am proud to be a Puerto Rican and nothing can change that.

Its incredible how many desperate illegal Italian immigrants were cramped up in a small boat and some even are missing. Immigrants do what ever is possible to go to another country to have a better opportunity of making money.
